While looking at a friend's scrap book I noticed
that they had pictures of their old pets, but
no current pictures of current pets. When I asked
why, the response was that if you took a picture of
your pet it would soon die afterwards. This was
said with conviction and firm belief. The reason
the belief was so strong was that this happened
to 4 of their pets after they took their picture.

Kim's family used to wax their cars, but every time they did,
whoever drove it after the waxing got into an auto accident.
This happened quite a few times. Kim's parents quit waxing
the cars and have not been in an accident since.

Unshelled Peanuts

One day my father and my oldest brother were in the car coming
from the store. My father had previously bought my brother some
peanuts at the store and told him not to eat them until they were
home. My brother began to shell the peanuts and eat them in the
car simultaneously the steering column of the car came disconnected
and my father lost control of the car and almost had an accident.
Ever since that day my father had said that it's bad luck to eat
unshelled peanuts in the car.

Submitter comment: This was a very funny story but my father seemed convinced that
its true.

Living in Northern Michigan, a means of heating our home was by
using a wood burning stove. My parents live up there now by
themselves and we often try to help them prepare their wood pile
for the long cold winter. The wood has to be cut and stacked,
however, some logs have to chopped or split. On one fall weekend,
several of us from the family were up there to help with the wood.
My oldest sister was there splitting the wood most of the weekend.
A month later the big news in our family was that my sister was now
pregnant after many years of trying to get pregnant. From then on
my Father has always kidded that it was the splitting of the wood
that had gotten her pregnant. Now during our wood working weekends
only those that my parents want to get pregnant are allowed to
split wood, no girlfriends or finances are allowed. This has been
a standing joke with our family, the miraculous results of
splitting wood, pregnancy.
